Permaneant marker?????

hi. i was sitting at my wood desk with a piece of paper and i was doodling with a blue sharpie marker on the piece of paper. when i lifted the paper up, to my horror, the marker had run through the paper and stained the wood. i tried scrubbing with Windex, Pledge, and paper towels and the permaneant marker won't come off of the desk. Can anybody make any suggestion? Please help. I really can't afford to buy another desk. Thanks :)
