The purpose of ammonia in Windex glass cleaner?

Ammonia could be used to kill many different germs and mild. Along with it being a mild disinfectant, ammonia works well as a de-greaser to take of grease/oils on glass that came from your hands touching the glass or food (if you are using it for a glass table).
